Trinnov Optimizer: Best in class

Use the decades of expert knowledge captured inside the Trinnov Optimizer platform to deliver an experience your customers will love and underline your credentials as a world-class home cinema operator.

When creating home cinema and luxury AV experiences for your clients, you want to ensure that you are providing the best possible performance. Naturally, you will use your own knowledge, expertise and ability to build a system tailored to each situation. But what if you could tap into a bank of abilities and knowledge created by some of the world's leading audio experts to take performance to the next level? In a nutshell, that is what Trinnov Optimizer delivers.

System building with Trinnov Optimizer

If you're not already fully familiar with the system, Trinnov Optimizer is a digital room correction and speaker optimisation system that corrects for room acoustics and speaker flaws to improve sound quality.

Available since 2005, the system achieves this by analysing the characteristics of the speakers and the room, creating digital filters to compensate for imperfections, and then applying those filters to the audio signal.

Even with some of the best AV systems available, if the characteristics of the room aren't addressed, performance won’t be optimised. Knowing this is one thing, but taking effective action is another – and this is where Trinnov Optimizer elevates your system building.

Recognised as best-in-class across both professional and domestic audio worlds, Optimizer technology is found in over 4,000 studios, with total high-performance installations worldwide approaching 15,000 systems.

Trinnov Optimizer is not a passive system – it is constantly evolving, maintaining its status as the most powerful and agile automated calibration system available.

How does it work?

Trinnov Optimizer is found inside products such as the Trinnov Altitude 16 and Trinnov Altitude 32 for the domestic market, as well as products like the NOVA, aimed at the pro/studio sector.

The system measures both the direct and global acoustic responses of all the speakers in the room. Direct response refers to the audio that travels straight from the speaker to the listening position (the listener’s ear) without reflecting off walls, ceiling, floor or other surfaces.

Global acoustic response refers to the combined effect of direct sound plus all reflections and interactions with the room – including standing waves, reverberation and modal behaviour caused by walls, ceiling, floor and furniture. This type of room colouration affects tonal balance, clarity and imaging.

Optimizer needs to understand both these measurement types to assess the listener experience and make room-specific adjustments. This allows Trinnov to apply precise, targeted correction – enhancing clarity, imaging and tonal balance in a way that respects both the speaker’s design and the room’s influence.

Trinnov’s unique 3D measurement microphone captures a vast amount of information in just a few seconds, speeding up the process but still maintaining the very highest standards.

One of the most important adjustments involves measuring the time-domain characteristics of the speaker, ensuring all frequencies arrive at the listening position at the correct time – a critical factor in high-performance audio.

The system also analyses the amplitude and phase response of the loudspeakers, enabling further control and compensation.

After collecting detailed data, the Optimizer creates digital filters to correct for room imperfections and speaker behaviour. These filters are applied to the audio signal before it ever reaches the speakers, ensuring complete accuracy.

Trinnov Optimizer also uses a multi-point algorithm, taking measurements from multiple positions and allowing greater importance to be assigned to primary listening spots. The result is cleaner, more accurate sound, free from distortions caused by room acoustics and speaker limitations.

Ease of use

Full training is available for Trinnov dealers on Trinnov products, including the Optimizer, at Level 1 and Level 2. In-person Level 2 courses will be available later in 2025 – but book early, as some courses planned for this year are already full.

While you can deepen your knowledge and leverage even more power from Trinnov Optimizer, the manufacturer stresses that the system is 'designed for humans’ and is highly user-friendly. There’s no need to install external software to calibrate a space – all measurements are integrated within Trinnov processors, removing the need to jump between interfaces.

The system works offline too - allowing progress even without an internet connection. It also includes onboard calibration wizards for easy setup and achieves detailed results quickly – even with just one sweep.

For those interested in a deep dive into the technology, Trinnov’s experts have produced a series of in-depth articles explaining how the Optimizer addresses the most critical aspects of world-class audio delivery.

Delivering best-in-class performance takes teamwork – and with Optimizer as part of yours, installers can achieve fantastic results every time.
