At Invision and Pulse Cinemas, one of our key promises has always been to deliver some of the best demonstration spaces the industry has to offer. This commitment continues to evolve with recent and planned updates at our Stansted HQ to keep our offering at the cutting edge of home cinema and media room experiences.
First up, the foyer - traditionally an area where we have showcased less conventional big-screen experiences - the most recent upgrade features the fantastic Leica Cine Play 1 partnering a fixed Screen Research screen. The placement of the projector is deliberately off-centre to show the versatility of this playful but powerful projector. This partnership is enhanced with mood lighting courtesy of Lutron, built into recently added ceiling cornicing to add drama and versatility. If you haven’t seen this unit in action before, it’s well worth checking out. Leveraging some of the best lens technology in the world, the Leica is able to produce strong imaging even in high ambient light conditions, all from its highly attractive mobile chassis.
The biggest demonstration space in the building has always been a showcase of the most cutting-edge technologies in dedicated home cinema design. This commitment continues to evolve as three powerful allies combine to offer a new level of performance and control, in step with the latest abilities from Trinnov, Alcons Audio and the AVA control platform.
Development in this space is set to take place in several phases. Alcons Audio speakers have already returned to the cinema to partner Trinnov in delivering WaveForming technology when the speaker array is further updated with more subs in mid-November. Currently managed by an Altitude32, the Trinnov AltitudeCI will soon take centre stage, showcasing the versatility of this new platform. The key to the new product is its ability to deliver the same performance levels as its cousins but offer the flexibility of a choice of channels so that installers can select exactly what is needed for each project. A mixture of digital and analogue connectivity also adds flexibility to cope with any configurations and equipment that need to be included.
Alcons Audio is already featured in the front channels of the cinema, delivering excellent dynamics. However, more Alcons speakers will be added to the cinema in the mid-November update, including an array of seven subs (four at the front and three at the rear) to deliver the full impact of WaveForming technology partnering the AltitudeCI.
Kapes Patel, Business Development & Technical Director, Pulse Cinemas, explains:
“Alcons Audio is a very strong partner for Trinnov WaveForming technology with its ability to deliver precise, powerful bass. Alcons is also just an excellent match for this room, filling the space with highly impressive dynamics, clear dialogue and a very natural, warm aspect to the audio. We can play at reference levels in here and it just feels so natural to listen to — never fatiguing, always highly impressive.”
David Meyerowitz, Technical Sales Manager, International, High End at Trinnov, adds:
“As well as adding subs for WaveForming, we are also going to be altering the layout of the speaker array to fully leverage the power of the most recent software upgrades to the Trinnov platform and even more closely match the needs of this space. The performance is seriously good even now, before the next phase of development has even happened, and we are very confident it’s going to be next level when everything is finished.”
David adds, “It’s important to remember that the software update available on the CI model and across the whole range is a ground-up reimagining of what the Trinnov platform can do. We have been able to update a huge amount of functionality and compatibility with this new platform, including all the very latest audio CODEC platforms into the heart of the software.
“The new UI will also be available across all of the products. A radical overhaul, the new system is much more intuitive and includes a full wizard-based approach that guides installers through setup rather than relying on them knowing or remembering where all the key control features are. Users can choose between levels of expertise, and the improved graphics and illustrations really inform what is going on, what is being created and present a better understanding of how the system works and what it delivers. In the calibration phase, there is a lot more automation of the process and handy guides on aspects such as where the mics need to be placed.”
David also underlines the importance of the Amplitude16 in the Trinnov offering. Created for the CI/home cinema market, this powerful unit delivers the flexibility needed to address diverse channel counts and power requirements. Now, with the optional Dante input board available on new products or for retrofit, the unit is ready and able to deliver audio over IP where needed.
The AVA platform has continued its impressive growth and development, with OS 2.0 being recently featured at EI Live! 2025.
The AVA 2.0 platform is available on iPad, Mac, Windows and third-party in-wall panels, as well as an app for smart devices. Pro-grade configuration tools, huge device compatibility and the sheer ease of use and speed of these units mean they are more than capable of running the whole of Pulse Cinemas HQ.
Kapes says, “Now to be found controlling the main cinema and the small cinema, I am a huge fan of these products, they just deliver everything you need to control an AV or smart home space. Super-fast and easy to programme and use, there really isn’t anything that can match them. We programmed a side-by-side comparison of the power of the madVR Envy Extreme in the big cinema just using the AVA. There is also strong margin available to dealers, and end users love the ease of use and the ergonomics of the handsets.”
Known for delivering what is possible for smaller spaces, this area has recently been updated with a full installation of our carefully curated short-throw cinema showcase. Easy to install, with just one power cable going to the MaxLight LK620 UST Cabinet, the setup features the Leica Cine 1, the brand’s premium 4K ultra-short throw projector delivering Dolby Vision, impressive colour depth and sharp contrast.
Partnering the projector is the Screen Innovations Short Throw Lift, a bottom-up motorised ambient light rejecting (ALR) screen. With SI’s ALR technology, the screen is designed to optimise image quality in a range of lighting conditions. For audio, this package is supported by Paradigm Monitor SE Atom Bookshelf speakers and an Essentials Sub 12. For processing, the compact Anthem MRX SLM ensures precise control while remaining discreetly hidden.
Kapes says, “Working in conjunction with the super-fast AVA Home Cinema remote, once the system is revealed, switching between Netflix, YouTube and Apple TV+ is the fastest we have seen. It’s just so easy to surf through any type of content the user could possibly want to look at and of course we can add in a Kaleidescape system if the customer wants to go next level.”
Kapes adds, “This space now delivers such a wide variety of experiences for visitors. We can showcase the short-throw system, then because we still have our cinemascope screen partnering Epson projection, we can go the next level and at the click of a button on the AVA show what a true cinema experience is like. Customers can get a clear idea of what different systems can do, and we can find exactly the right system for them. If you haven’t visited Pulse Cinemas HQ in a while, make your appointment today!”
