Paradigm Landscape Oasis provides the WOW for high profile installation
Nucleus AV featured prominently at the recent WOW!House event, an annual showcase held at the Chelsea Design Centre that celebrates UK interior design excellence. As part of this exhibition, Nucleus AV chose a Paradigm Landscape Oasis 8.1 system to deliver audio within the striking Randle Siddeley Garden Terrace space.
This yearly prestigious month-long showcase offers an opportunity for interior designers and suppliers to show off their work to a discerning audience. The initiative features a collection of full-sized rooms and outdoor spaces, each designed by a different renowned interior designer in collaboration with leading brands. The event allows visitors to experience the latest trends and innovations in interior design first-hand. Strong evidence of the need for AV integration to these spaces was on show, courtesy of Nucleus AV, as the company featured across several of the event’s spaces.
The WOW!House Randle Siddeley Garden Terrace, designed by landscape architect Randle Siddeley, was created as a luxurious outdoor space. Envisioned as a garden room and a retreat for entertaining and connecting with nature, the space featured a blend of indoor and outdoor elements. For the Randle Siddeley Garden Terrace, the brief was to keep AV invisible but powerful.
Durgesh Sinh, Founding Director at Nucleus AV, explains:
“We installed a Paradigm Landscape Oasis 8.1 system for consistent coverage and mounted three 85in Sony professional displays vertically behind lattice panels. These elements played content designed to evoke nature and give the illusion of extended space, like windows to the world. All systems were tied into a wider Lutron and Crestron ecosystem and featured timed scene events and environmental resilience.”
Durgesh underlines, “Indoor systems rely on controlled acoustics and visual environments. Outdoors, durability, coverage and subtlety are key. You’re working with soil, moisture, weather and concealment. AV should enhance the landscape; your soundscape should be natural and surround you evenly.”
Needing something that would deliver on all these elements for the month-long run of the WOW!House and ease of installation (there is just a five-day window when the room/systems have to be installed), Paradigm Landscape Oasis was an easy choice for the team.
An Oasis of audio
This line moves Paradigm's impressive sound to the exterior of a property, and here the all-in-one package with eight speakers and ground stakes, one in-ground subwoofer and 20 waterproof wire connectors, was the ideal match.
The speakers can be mounted in the ground, as they were here, on a deck rail, in a tree, or under an eave. The threaded ‘Quick Twist Cap’ mount system works universally with all three speaker mounts: Ground Stake, Inground Conduit Box, or Surface Mount for decks and walls.
The range also includes key patented technologies such as Reduced Edge Diffraction (RED), which delivers cleaner and more powerful midrange thanks to its unique tweeter housing. Irregular edges and an off-centre placement reduce the risk of standing wave artefacts. Combined with the wide-dispersion design of the satellite speakers, projects get a more even coverage as well as superior clarity.
Bass is not forgotten as the in-ground subwoofers leverage high-output, water-resistant drivers inside an HDPE enclosure for reliable operation. Available in 8”, 10” or 12”, the subwoofers are highly discreet with only the ‘mushroom cap’ hood visible, a characteristic that was vital when integrating the system into the WOW!House. Garden Oasis speakers carry an IP54 rating, with Garden Oasis subwoofers upping the rating to IP58.
During the WOW!House event, Nucleus AV also worked with interior designer Alex Dauley to deliver an impressive media room showcase called the ‘Date Night Media Room’. Weaving a high-performance entertainment system into this high-concept space, Durgesh and the team chose a Kaleidescape Strato V to provide reference-grade playback, delivering uncompressed video and audio with the flawless reliability needed as the demo would run all day, every day for one month.
Business benefits of providing fully integrated AV for this event were considerable. Durgesh reports, “The event dramatically raised our profile within the design community. It led to direct project opportunities, media coverage and deepened relationships with suppliers and designers.”
