Kaleidescape Mini Terra Prime announced!

No prizes for spotting that the world’s best movie and content delivery system Kaleidescape has been on a charge of late introducing many new ground-breaking products into the market. One of the main aims with the introduction of products like the Strato E and Strato M players has been to widen the appeal of the platform with new price points but still deliver the same high performance the brand is known for. Now it is time for the same concept to be applied to the server range from the brand with the introduction of the Mini Terra Prime.

Partnering with any one of the Strato player options from the Kaleidescape family, the Mini Terra Prime delivers a compact silent server built around solid-state performance and technology. This modestly proportioned server (1RU height ½ rack width) still packs a powerful punch, able to download 4K movies in as little as four minutes and simultaneously stream up to 25 4K movies. With a low power consumption profile, Mini Terra Prime still provides storage for 125 4K movies using its 8TB capacity. The new server can be rack mounted alongside Strato E or M using the range of mounts for both sold separately.

Product comparison

The new product slips neatly into the existing range with the Terra Prime Solid-State also able to simultaneously stream up to 25 4K movies with the same download speed but with larger storage capacity options of 123TB (2,000 4K movies) and 31TB (500 4K movies). The 8TB option in this product family will be discontinued with the introduction of the Mini Terra Prime. This variant will continue to be offered in the compact (1RU height ½ rack width) and larger (2RU height for rackmount) options.

The Terra Prime line continues with simultaneous streaming of up to 10 4K movies (full size) and up to 5 4K movies in the compact option. This line will continue to offer downloads of 4K movies in eight minutes with 96TB (1,600 4K movies), 48TB (800 4K movies) and 24TB (400 4K movies) options. The previously available 12TB options will cease with the introduction of the Mini Terra Prime. Software updates too!

As well as this highly positive product news, Kaleidescape has been busy preparing the roll out of kOS 10.23.0. These automatic updates are underway delivering a smoother experience with no action needed. Check the version in settings and if it is not 10.23.0 yet it is on the way.

Karl Brett, Product Manager at Invision/Pulse Cinemas, underlines the key benefits delivered by the update, as ‘Row-Based Collections View’ is now default on all Strato players delivering a modern UI with improved navigation. Classic view does remain optional on some models. Navigation upgrades include ‘Chapter skip’ now enabling intra-row browsing, smoother transitions and better back-button behaviour to enhance UX. Via the update Strato V, E and M now support HDMI CEC for AVR/display control via the Kaleidescape remote. Improved access to ‘Watch Soon’ collections has also been enabled.
