CI distributor Invision UK thrives amid economic slowdown

Invision UK, a leading distributor of home technology solutions, has announced the relocation of its warehousing operations from Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, to a much larger distribution facility located in the West Midlands.

Recent reports in the national press could make for depressing reading if you’re connected to the home industry. According to Reuters, mortgage approvals for house purchases have dropped to a record low and statistics from the National House Building Council (NHBC) reveal that the number of applications to start new homes have fallen by more than a quarter year-on-year. *

The media is being inundated with stories about how the credit crunch is damaging UK industries, and many property developers remain pessimistic about the future of the housing sector. But despite all the doom and gloom in the property market, the mood in the custom installation and home automation trade remains buoyant.
Home technology distributor Invision UK is currently enjoying a record quarter and CEDIA has suggested that the custom installation market may be uniquely resilient to the financial pressure sweeping the nation. Matt Nimmons, CEDIA’s Operations Director, said: “It’s easy to believe everything in the press, but although there has been an economic slump, we are positive that the industry will continue to grow in strength.”

Steve Beahan, Managing Director at home technology distributor Invision UK, said that the distributor had been so successful in recent months that he had been left with no choice but to relocate its existing warehousing operation to much larger premises. “The explosive growth of Invision Express, our fledgling displays division, coupled with the expansion and relocation of our warehousing operation shows that the custom installation market is booming,” said Beahan.

The size and scope of Invision’s new logistics centre is impressive and unmatched by any of the distributor’s competitors. It is conveniently situated near to the major carrier hubs to guarantee a fast and reliable service and products are available from stock for immediate shipment. Beahan says that Invision UK can offer same day despatch on all orders received by 5.30pm and can drop-ship consignments if necessary.

“This announcement is great news for our customers,” said Beahan. “Our enhanced logistics and virtual warehousing capability will enable them to use just-in-time stocking strategies so they won’t need to tie up their capital in stock. We offer everything the custom installer needs and we can deliver nationwide on a next-day basis to mainland UK destinations.”
